Making jewelry allows me to play with color and texture. It's physical-I creating something whole out of parts. When I work with beads I write a short poem. One necklace made of petrified wood, blue and white porcelain and a Murano glass focal bead reminds me of a wrecked Spanish Galleon that was carrying gold coins and Chinese porcelain. Another reminded me of Etruscan pottery-I used Czech beads -round and pyramid shapes. With my Frida Kahlo earrings, I tried to incorporate animals and hearts to reflect the subject of her paintings. I plan to include other figures from art and history in the future.
